A Los Angeles judge has issued a restraining order against rapper and YouTuber DDG, whose real name is Darryl Dwayne Granberry Jr., at the request of Halle Bailey, the star of Disney’s live-action “The Little Mermaid.” Bailey claims that she has experienced repeated instances of violence and abuse from Granberry and fears for her own safety as well as their 17-month-old son, Halo.

The order mandates that Granberry keep his distance from both Bailey and their son until a hearing scheduled for June 6. In her application for the order, Bailey detailed a pattern of physical, verbal, emotional, and financial abuse throughout their relationship, which lasted from 2022 to 2023.

Bailey recounted a particularly alarming incident from January where she alleged that Granberry physically assaulted her while she was attempting to strap their child into a car seat. According to her statements, Granberry verbally abused her during the confrontation, which escalated to physical violence, resulting in an injury when he allegedly slammed her face against the car’s steering wheel.

She stated in her filing that there have been multiple violent episodes since their breakup, including an instance in March where Granberry entered her home without permission and sent her a threatening message. Bailey also highlighted concerns that Granberry was using his significant social media following to tarnish her image, claiming he has made defamatory comments against her, which have resulted in harassment on social media.

The judge also ordered Granberry not to own any weapons as part of the restraining order. The situation highlights ongoing discussions about the impact of domestic violence and the necessity for protective measures, especially for public figures.

Bailey, who has received six Grammy nominations and starred in the acclaimed series “Grown-ish,” is currently navigating these serious allegations while also managing her music career following major successes such as her role in “The Little Mermaid.”

In a broader context, this case serves as a reminder of the importance of addressing issues of domestic violence and the protective measures available for individuals who find themselves in such dangerous situations. It is hoped this judicial intervention will contribute to Bailey and her son’s safety and emphasize the need for accountability.
