The Grasshoppers Netball Club (GNC) is set to embark on an overseas tour next month as part of its strategic planning for the 2025 netball season. GNC Secretary Adi Unaisi Ranavue announced that the Under-12 and Under-14 teams will travel to Brisbane, Australia, in July to participate in the Queensland Nissan State Age Championship.
In addition to this notable event, the club has planned a series of educational activities aimed at empowering young girls with knowledge and life skills. These activities will include workshops focused on career guidance, health education, and gender equality, reinforcing GNC’s mission to create future leaders who excel not only in netball but also as responsible citizens.
Ranavue emphasized that through a mix of sports, education, and social engagement, the club is dedicated to positively impacting the lives of its players and the wider community. She highlighted a recent community outreach program—a Rubbish Pick-Up Drive—which represented a crucial milestone in the club’s mission to nurture skilled athletes who are also responsible and engaged citizens.
The objectives of this initiative were not only to promote environmental responsibility but also to develop teamwork skills among the players, instill active citizenship values, and raise awareness about maintaining clean public spaces. Ranavue expressed that this initiative aligns with the club’s broader goal of fostering mental, spiritual, and social development among its members, complementing their physical fitness and netball skills.
In addition to regular training sessions, GNC is offering extra classes for Year 8 girls and pursuing further community outreach efforts for comprehensive player development. This highlights a commitment to holistically support the growth of their young athletes, instilling them with knowledge and skills that transcend the sport itself.
The ongoing initiatives of the Grasshoppers Netball Club not only emphasize the importance of skill development in sport but also the significant role of community engagement in shaping responsible youth. Such proactive measures underscore a hopeful outlook for the club’s future and its impact on local communities.
