Minister Nalumisa noted that the improvements will enable Govind Park to host daytime matches and enhance the community’s engagement with sports. The upgrades include a modern playing surface, making the park suitable for significant rugby events, and there are hopeful prospects of hosting the Fijian Drua for trial matches and preseason games.
Previous reports have indicated that the redevelopment involves substantial investments, totaling around $8.3 million, with the goal of creating a venue that maximizes local sporting culture and bolsters the community’s economic vitality.
