Garbhan Coughlan, a dynamic striker for the Manukau All Stars, is set to compete for his first Pacific Community Cup title at Churchill Park in Lautoka today. The 30-year-old Irish national, who has made New Zealand his home thanks to his Kiwi spouse, has been a standout player throughout the tournament, scoring in every match and placing himself at the forefront of the golden boot race.

Coughlan’s impressive performance includes two goals against Lautoka in a closely contested 3-2 defeat on the first day, followed by a remarkable hat-trick during a 3-2 victory over the AuFFI All Stars. He also notched a goal in a 3-1 win against Navua and recently contributed decisively with a goal in the All Stars’ semifinal win against the USA team, which ended 2-0.

Expressing his enthusiasm for being part of the Manukau team, Coughlan shared, “This is a special team made up of players who love the game of football and are very passionate.” He emphasized the camaraderie among teammates, stating, “We are like a family and support each other both on and off the field. The goals I have scored in this tournament have all come through team effort, and I thank my teammates for their support.”

Looking ahead to the final, Coughlan expressed his determination to contribute to the team’s success, aiming to score again and help clinch the title. He acknowledged the challenge posed by friends in the Auckland team while maintaining confidence in his own team, saying, “We are looking forward to a tough and competitive final later today.”
