The Fijian Competition and Consumer Commission has announced new fuel and LPG prices for September 2024, which will come into effect on September 1. The revised pricing is as follows:
– Motor Spirit: $2.90 (an increase of $0.03 or 1.05%)
– Premix: $2.72 (an increase of $0.01 or 0.37%)
– Kerosene: $1.93 (a decrease of $0.02 or 1.03%)
– Diesel: $2.50 (a decrease of $0.02 or 0.79%)
Changes in LPG prices are as follows:
– 4.5 Kg Cylinder: $14.86 (an increase of $0.13 or 0.88%)
– 12 Kg Cylinder: $39.63 (an increase of $0.35 or 0.89%)
– Bulk LPG: $3.06 per kg (an increase of $0.03 or 0.99%)
– Autogas: $2.15 per litre (an increase of $0.03 or 1.42%)
These adjustments are influenced by various factors, including international refined fuel prices, freight rates, and fluctuations in exchange rates based on imports from July 2024. The rise in costs for motor spirit and premix, along with the decrease in kerosene and diesel prices, is linked to changes in global prices and currency exchange rates. The increase in LPG prices is attributed to stable butane contract prices, higher shipping costs, and a stronger US dollar against the Fijian dollar.
The FCCC will oversee compliance with these new prices through inspections and encourages consumers to report any unfair practices.
