Fuel and Gas Prices Set to Rise: What You Need to Know

Fuel, gas prices up

Consumers in Fiji are facing an increase in fuel and gas prices this month, as reported by the Fijian Competition and Consumer Commission. The rising costs are primarily attributed to the strengthened value of the US dollar.

The updated prices for February are as follows:
– Motor Spirit: $2.69 per liter (up 2 cents)
– Premix: $2.53 per liter (up 2 cents)
– Kerosene: $1.80 per liter (up 2 cents)
– Diesel: $2.33 per liter (up 2 cents)
– 4.5 Kg Cylinder: $15.78 (up 25 cents)
– 12 Kg Cylinder: $42.09 (up 67 cents)
– Bulk gas: $3.25 per kg (up 5 cents)
– Autogas: $2.28 per liter (up 3 cents)

The review of fuel and LPG prices in Fiji occurs with a one-month delay, reflecting changes in the global market.

Despite these increases, there is an opportunity for consumers to adopt more energy-efficient methods of transportation and heating, which could help mitigate the impact of rising fuel costs over time. Transitioning to alternative energy sources can not only reduce expenses but also contribute positively to environmental sustainability.
