The Fiji Rugby Union (FRU) is nearing the conclusion of its evaluation process for the chief executive position, with interviews for five shortlisted candidates having been conducted last Friday. FRU Board Chairman John Sanday announced that the organization is set to make an announcement soon regarding the successful candidate.
Local HR company Maxumise is currently handling the final stages, including the scoring tally and reference checks. Sanday emphasized that the chosen candidate will be required to commit to an initial performance management plan spanning 100 days.
Since advertising the position in November, the FRU received a total of 12 applications. The selection process narrowed this down to five candidates, three of whom are local and two from overseas. Among the applicants is Koli Sewabu, who is currently serving as the acting CEO.
Following the appointment of the new CEO, the FRU will also officially designate its new chief financial officer and acting chief operating officer. This recruitment process is part of a significant restructuring initiative aimed at aligning the FRU with tier one standards and the expectations of modern rugby. The FRU’s commitment to improving its operations reflects a hopeful direction for the organization and its future endeavors in the sport.
