Private Anthony Pesamino initially aspired to become a veterinarian, but unforeseen circumstances led him to take a different path. His plans were significantly altered when he discovered that Fiji National University had discontinued its veterinary program, which left him feeling discouraged. Faced with a pivotal decision, he chose to apply to the military instead.
“I experienced a significant change,” Private Pesamino reflected on his transition. He acknowledged that while he initially lacked experience, it didn’t deter him from pursuing a military career alongside many other applicants. Through hard work and determination, he successfully completed 18 months of demanding military training.
Graduating from the FTG (military training ground in Nasinu), he shared how the experience has profoundly changed his perspective on life. “The discipline I acquired during training has transformed my life,” he noted. “I’ve learned essential skills, from critical problem-solving to actively engaging with local communities.”
