From Tyre to Triumph: Boxer Shocks with First Knockout Win

A boxer has taken an unconventional approach to training by using an old tire in preparation for his first professional boxing match. Vitori Cavalevu relied on this tire, which was suspended from the roof of a house, as his main training tool, demonstrating remarkable ingenuity by transforming it into an effective asset for his practice regimen.

Cavalevu dedicated hours each day to honing his punching skills, improving his footwork, and enhancing his stamina. His training video has attracted significant attention online. Despite not having access to advanced equipment, his relentless commitment ultimately led to success in the ring, where he achieved a knockout victory against his opponent, Tevita Sete, in under three minutes.

Though Cavalevu opted out of speaking to the media, his trainer, Joji Naisua, shared insights into the young athlete’s background. At just 24 years old, Cavalevu is a farmer by trade, not a full-fledged professional boxer. Naisua explained their motivation to involve young men like Cavalevu in boxing, stating, “We engaged these young men in boxing as we didn’t want them to engage themselves in illicit activities.”

He went on to praise Cavalevu’s composure, suggesting it could lead him to greater heights in the sport. “From now, we are going to engage him in other activities to build up his strength and fitness,” Naisua said. He also noted that Cavalevu is open to challenges from anyone looking to face him in future matches.
