Shelly Tokalauvere, a 22-year-old from Sawaieke Village in Gau, has proudly graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce in Banking and Finance from Fiji National University. Reflecting on her academic journey, she shared the emotional and logistical difficulties of leaving her family to pursue higher education, ultimately feeling that every struggle was worthwhile.

Wearing her graduation gown, Tokalauvere expressed gratitude for her resilience, stating, “This gown reminds me of how I was able to overcome all the challenges that came my way. I feel so proud, and I encourage students to work hard because I want them to experience the same sense of accomplishment I feel right now.”

She dedicated her success to her family, especially her father, who consistently provided support and encouragement during challenging times. “I want to dedicate this achievement to my family and friends, especially my dad. He is the one I called when I felt like giving up or when things got tough. He reminded me why I started and encouraged me to see it through to the end,” she highlighted.

Tokalauvere emphasized the significance of having a reliable support system to help navigate obstacles, which she believes is crucial for success.

This story serves as an inspiring reminder of determination and the importance of familial support in achieving one’s goals. It’s a testament to resilience and the rewards of hard work, encouraging others to pursue their dreams despite the challenges they may face.
