Adi Viniana Tuirewa has celebrated her graduation from the Australia Pacific Training Coalition (APTC), proudly earning a Certificate III in Individual Support (Aging). This achievement comes after navigating significant challenges related to family separation. The 35-year-old mother of three moved from Levuka, Ovalau, to Suva for her six-month course, receiving heartfelt support from her husband, Alipate Bolalevu Bukalidi, and their children during the graduation ceremony at the Suva Civic Auditorium.
Reflecting on her experience, Ms. Tuirewa conveyed the difficulties of balancing education with family, stating, “Returning to school with kids and a family and completing the course in six months was not an easy journey.” Despite being away from her family during her studies, she managed to return home on weekends, highlighting the sacrifices required for her educational pursuits.
Ms. Tuirewa attributed her success to the unwavering support from her husband’s family as well as her relatives in Taveuni. She expressed a motivating message for other women considering further education: “There are no barriers at all. If you’re willing to go for it, then you will achieve what you have in mind.”
Her graduation was part of a larger cohort, with 137 graduates completing courses across various fields, including engineering, carpentry, and tourism, showcasing the diverse educational opportunities available.
This inspiring narrative echoes the stories of many women who have tackled obstacles to pursue their education. It emphasizes the vital importance of family support, determination, and sacrifice in achieving one’s dreams. Ms. Tuirewa’s journey exemplifies the transformative impact education can have, encouraging others to confront challenges with resilience and hope.
As she steps into her next chapter, Ms. Tuirewa stands as a symbol of encouragement, showing that dreams can be pursued and achieved, despite any hurdles that may arise.
