Manaini Lesavua, a 32-year-old from Nawaka, Nadi, expressed profound gratitude and emotion as she celebrated her recent graduation from Fiji National University (FNU) with a Trade Diploma in Baking and Patisserie. Overwhelmed by the sacrifices made by her mother, Lesavua highlighted the pivotal role her family played in her educational journey while managing her responsibilities as a mother to four young children.

During the graduation ceremony, where approximately 200 students from the College of Humanities and Education were honored at the Vodafone Arena in Laucala Bay, Suva, Lesavua reflected on the challenges she faced balancing motherhood and her studies. She emotionally acknowledged her mother’s tireless efforts in financing her education, saying, “I know it was hard for you, giving me the opportunity to go to school, and today I have harvested the fruit of hard work.”

Lesavua, who currently works as a security officer for Wormald Fire and Security, expressed pride in her achievement and dedicated her success to her family and husband, who supported her through the demanding period of raising her children while studying. She recognized the immense challenges of maintaining her studies alongside caring for her children aged seven, four, three, and ten months, yet remained hopeful and determined to pursue further education.

With aspirations to earn a bachelor’s degree in tourism, she urged young people facing hardships to remain resilient and steadfast. “The sky is the limit,” she encouraged, emphasizing the importance of perseverance in the face of adversity.

This heartwarming story reflects the power of determination and support from family, illustrating how with dedication and unity, individuals can overcome challenges to achieve their dreams. Lesavua’s journey serves as an inspiring testament to the impact of unwavering familial support and the pursuit of educational goals.
