Darsh Prakash, an 18-year-old student at Jai Narayan College, has been named the dux for 2024, attributing his achievement to a steady commitment to learning and the steadfast support he received from his teachers and classmates.
In a recent statement, Darsh emphasized the importance of having the right mindset and being surrounded by excellent educators as key factors in his success. “Having the right attitude towards learning and being surrounded by the best teachers were huge contributors to my success,” he remarked.
His academic journey began in Year Nine in 2020, a time filled with high expectations set by his parents and mentors. While the dux award was not a designated goal, he acknowledged it as a possibility that he considered throughout his studies. “I wouldn’t say I tried harder than usual for it. I put the same effort into all my exams,” he explained.
Studying pure sciences, Darsh faced rigorous curricula and substantial competition. He highlighted the importance of consistency in his academic efforts. “The subjects were challenging, but I focused on my studies and was fortunate to have supportive teachers always willing to assist,” he stated.
Adapting to a shortened academic year also posed a challenge, but Darsh managed his time efficiently to maintain his academic performance. He expressed gratitude towards his teachers and peers, stating, “Taking the top prize home feels great, and I’m thankful for everyone who helped me get here.”
Darsh’s father, Inesh Prakash, expressed his surprise and joy at his son’s achievement. “I wasn’t expecting him to win the dux award when he left home this morning. It was a blessing from God,” he said, adding his gratitude to the school for nurturing Darsh’s abilities.
