Mohammed Nabeel, a talented player from New Zealand, is on the brink of realizing his dream of representing the Fiji national football team. Nabeel delivered an impressive man-of-the-match performance while playing for Auckland All-Stars, leading his team to victory in the Flick Hygiene Pacific Community Cup held at Churchill Park in Lautoka.
In the final match, Auckland All-Stars secured a 2-0 win against Manukau All-Stars, with goals contributed by Eber Ramirez and Nicolas Bodadilla. Nabeel’s outstanding performance earned him the Best Player award of the tournament.
Excitingly, Nabeel has received a call-up to play for Fiji in the upcoming President’s Cup in the Solomon Islands later this month. He expressed his gratitude to his team for the recognition and emphasized that wearing the national jersey has been a dream for him since moving to New Zealand in 2022.
The Auckland All-Stars’ lineup included experienced players such as goalkeeper Beniamino Mateinaqara, Andrew Naicker, Abbu Zahid, and more, contributing to their triumph in the tournament while securing a prize of $10,000. Meanwhile, Manukau All-Stars received $3,000 for their efforts.
During the semi-finals, Auckland All-Stars triumphed over Lautoka 2-0, while Manukau defeated USA All-Stars by the same score. Notably, the tournament also recognized other outstanding players: AUFFI All-Stars received the Fair Play Award, Garbhan Coughlan claimed the Golden Boot with six goals, and Beniamino Mateinaqara earned the Golden Gloves for his goalkeeping performance.
