Joshika Lata’s journey is a powerful testament to resilience, determination, and the transformative nature of education. Recently appointed as the General Manager of the JP Bayly Trust, a charitable organization focused on supporting those in need, her story serves as an inspiration for many, particularly individuals facing adversity.
Lata’s educational journey began in 1990 at the Frank Hilton School, which caters to students with disabilities. Despite facing significant challenges, including bullying and difficulties stemming from a physical deformity in her arms, she remained steadfast in her belief in the “transformative power of education.” Her graduation was not just a milestone; it marked a life-changing moment for her.
Completing her secondary education at DAV College in Nabua, Lata pursued a diploma in business management at the Fiji Institute of Technology, graduating in 2005. Her professional career began as a spare parts clerk, but her ambition led her to transition into accounting roles, inspired by the work ethic of her father. Lata balanced her full-time work with her studies, ultimately earning a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Fiji National University.
Joining the JP Bayly Trust in 2018 as an accounts clerk, Lata’s dedication and hard work quickly led her to achieve a postgraduate degree in 2020. She took on multiple roles within the trust, culminating in her promotion to General Manager in April 2024—a moment she described as both surprising and emotional.
Today, Lata is not only committed to her own success but is also passionate about mentoring others. She believes in her ability to inspire new recruits and young individuals navigating similar challenges. Her message resonates with the belief that success is attainable, regardless of adversity.
