The Fiji National Provident Fund (FNPF) is actively working on a new medical insurance scheme designed to enhance the quality of life for its members. This initiative reflects the organization’s commitment to addressing healthcare needs as part of a broader strategic direction.

FNPF’s CEO Viliame Vodonaivalu confirmed that the scheme is still in development. The Fund is focused on ensuring the new offering complies with all regulatory and technical standards prior to its official rollout. “The medical insurance scheme is part of the Fund’s strategic direction to provide members with relevant products that contribute towards improving their quality of life,” Vodonaivalu noted in a written statement.

The upcoming medical insurance plan will be available to current members, with eligibility criteria to be announced once the design is finalized. Vodonaivalu emphasized the importance of enabling members to access quality healthcare, particularly at the tertiary level. Furthermore, he hinted that there could be possibilities for pensioners to benefit from similar offerings in the future.

In November 2024, FNPF sought expressions of interest (EOIs) for the Members Medical Insurance policy, closing submissions at the end of December. The response was notably positive, prompting the Fund to engage with the successful bidders once the EOI process is complete.

Once fully launched, this medical insurance scheme promises to provide essential healthcare support to FNPF members, broadening the Fund’s services to better serve its diverse clientele.

In summary, the introduction of a medical insurance scheme by FNPF marks a significant step towards enhancing health services for its members, demonstrating their commitment to member well-being and proactive healthcare solutions. This initiative opens up the potential for better health outcomes and an improved quality of life for FNPF members and, potentially, their pensioners in the future.
