Flying Fijians Forge Community Bonds Before Big Match

The FIJI Water Flying Fijians team has been actively engaging with the local community, courtesy of sponsors FIJI Water and Fiji Airways. Recently, the team paid a visit to Sikituru village in Nadi, where they received a warm welcome and enjoyed a traditional Fijian lovo.

Head coach Mick Byrne expressed his appreciation for the experience. “Visiting Sikituru village was incredible,” Byrne remarked. “The players really enjoyed the Fijian food, and it was wonderful to reconnect with the village. The joy on the children’s faces was unforgettable; it made the visit meaningful for all of us.”

Captain Tevita Ikanivere also shared his gratitude for the chance to engage with the grassroots community. “I want to thank FIJI Water and Fiji Airways for making this possible, along with the coaching staff. It was fantastic to see so many children during their school holidays and to experience the hospitality of the villagers who prepared a lovely lovo for us. We truly appreciate the warm welcome,” he stated.

As the team gears up for their upcoming Pacific Nations Cup match against Tonga, they are focused on securing a spot in the semi-finals of the tournament. The match is scheduled for 3 PM next Friday, with Fiji defending its championship title.
