Weather Update
Issued from the National Weather Forecasting Centre Nadi at the crack of dawn on Wednesday, March 4, 2026
Good news! The heavy rain that was throwing a tantrum in the western half of Viti Levu, Yasawa, Mamanuca Groups, Kadavu, and their smaller island buddies has finally packed its bags and left the party. Hooray!
Now, before you decide to don your best sandals and hit the beach, keep in mind that a flood alert is still horseplaying around in low-lying flood-prone areas near Nakauvadra River (Rakiraki Town), Naseyani at Yaqara River, and several others across Viti Levu. So, if you were planning to float down the river on a makeshift raft, you might want to reconsider.
Also, a flash flood warning is still making sure we remember it’s around, especially over the whole of Viti Levu. Just in case you needed a reminder that puddles can quickly turn into swimming pools!
We’ve got easterly winds frolicking over the Fiji group, so let’s dive into what the weather has in store for us today:
Expectation for today: Expect cloudy periods followed by some showers creeping over the Western half of Viti Levu, the Yasawa and Mamanuca groups, Kadavu, and the southern Lau group. Elsewhere, you’ll see some clouds too—maybe even a few brief showers trying to photobomb your sunny moments. Moderate east to southeast winds will make sure your hat doesn’t fly away, and moderate seas are making things somewhat nautical!
Looking ahead to Thursday, the clouds are planning a reunion in Navua, interior Serua-Namosi, Suva, Naaitasiri, Nausori, and other places—pretty much everywhere that sounds fun to say. You can expect some showers, especially in the afternoon or evening. And don’t be surprised if you find yourself in an isolated thunderstorm—sounds like the weather is playing a real-life game of hide and seek!
For you weather nerds wanting the nitty-gritty:
In Navua / Suva / Nausori: Clouds with brief showers are on the agenda. Highs of 30 and lows of 25, keep a light jacket handy!
Natadradave/Korovou: Same cloudy charade with brief showers. Min: 25, Max: 30.
Sigatoka/Coral Coast: More cloud cover and occasional showers. Min: 25, Max: 30. And watch out for thunderstorms trying to steal the spotlight!
Nadi / Lautoka / Ba: You guessed it: cloudy periods with showers. Min: 25, Max: 30. It’s like déjà vu, but with weather!
For Tavua/Rakiraki, Yasawa/Mamanuca, and others, the script doesn’t change much. Typical showers, high hopes for sunshine, and temperatures staying cozy around 30 degrees.
As for you lovely islanders in Rotuma, expect cloudy skies and moderate to rough seas trying to spice up your day, temperatures hanging around 24 to 31 degrees.
So there you have it! Weather that’s more unpredictable than your friend who’s always late. Stay dry out there, and let’s hope for clearer skies soon!
