At the launch of the Women Invigorating the Nation (WIN) Convention 2026, Eldon Eastgate, general manager of Pacific Islands at Essity, emphasized the crucial role women play in nation-building and the need for them to confidently take leadership roles. This year’s convention, scheduled for March 27 and 28 at the Grand Pacific Hotel in Suva, aims to foster greater participation of women in various sectors, encouraging them to step up and share their talents.
Eastgate highlighted that investing in women is tantamount to investing in the future of Fiji. He pointed out the need for increased capacity-building among women entrepreneurs and those in corporate roles, noting that developing confidence and assertiveness is essential for women to assume leading positions in their communities and beyond.
The WIN Convention is organized by the Women Entrepreneurs Business Council (WEBC), which operates under the Fiji Commerce & Employers Federation (FCEF). Recognizing the importance of collaboration, the event also invites male counterparts to participate, promoting a united front in supporting women’s roles in society.
Eastgate, who also serves as the president of FCEF, reiterated the ongoing need for support and collaboration between genders. He believes that initiatives like the WIN Convention will not only elevate women’s participation but also help them gain the confidence to express their ideas and capabilities, ultimately benefiting the wider community.
The WIN Convention 2026 promises to be a significant event that highlights women’s contributions while encouraging them to embrace their strengths and leadership potential, fostering a more equitable and inclusive society in Fiji.
