Emergency operations centers in the Western Division of Fiji will remain operational as the Fiji Meteorological Service forecasts continued rainfall over the weekend. Divisional Commissioner Western, Apolosi Lewaqai, has urged the public to take necessary precautions in light of the persistent rain.

In a positive development, food rations were successfully distributed to 61 families currently residing in evacuation centers in Nadi, who were affected by flooding earlier this week. These families are taking shelter at various locations, including Andrews Primary School, Saioni Church, Korovuto Secondary School, and the Vou Dance Group Office.

In addition to the food distribution, several faith-based organizations, non-governmental organizations, businesses, and the Ministry of Health have generously contributed by providing cooked meals, bottled water, and essential food rations along with hygiene kits to support those in need.

For anyone requiring assistance, the contact details are as follows:
– Commissioner Western’s Office: 6664946
– Commissioner Western’s Direct Line: 9937346
– Nearest Police Station for emergencies: Please reach out to your local station.

This community-driven response highlights the solidarity and support among Fijians during challenging times, signaling a strong resilience in the face of adversity.
