Education Minister Aseri Radrodro has hailed this week’s Viti Showcase and Skills Fair as a testament to the Government’s commitment to providing every Fijian child with access to quality education. The event, which commenced on Monday at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva, is designed to inspire excellence and promote collaboration among schools while cultivating a culture of innovation and productivity among youth.
With the theme “Unleashing Potentials, Celebrating Talents, Building Skills,” the week-long fair offers students the chance to showcase their learning through hands-on displays of innovation, craftsmanship, and performance, derived from classroom lessons, workshops, and community projects. Minister Radrodro emphasized that this initiative aims to transform education from mere attendance into a participatory experience where every student is motivated to succeed.
Mr. Radrodro highlighted that the fair serves as a safe, inclusive platform for students to present their skills and talents across various disciplines. He noted that this event embodies the Ministry of Education’s focus on a skills-based curriculum, which is designed to foster critical 21st-century competencies.
He remarked, “This is where our curriculum truly comes alive, where theoretical knowledge transforms into practical skills.” At the fair, attendees can witness how classroom concepts not only become engineering feats but also lead to innovative solutions that benefit local communities. In addition, performances in language and arts reflect a creative evolution beyond basic lessons, offering powerful experiences that inspire and engage audiences.
The Viti Showcase and Skills Fair stands as an encouraging initiative, reinforcing the vital role of education in nurturing the potential of Fijian youth and equipping them with the necessary skills to thrive in an ever-changing world.
