Anthony Ho, a prominent figure in Fijian and Oceanic table tennis, has been honored posthumously with the ITTF-Oceania Personal Honorary Membership, making history as the first recipient from Fiji. This prestigious recognition was approved by the 23 ITTF-Oceania Member Associations during their 2025 AGM.
Ho’s impact on table tennis was significant, with a career that began in his youth in Fiji and continued until his passing in 2021 at the age of 60. Over his impressive 30-year playing career, he captured 10 National Men’s Singles titles and more than 10 National Doubles titles. His achievements also include winning three silver and three bronze medals across five Pacific Games, participating in five Oceania Championships, and competing at the 1991 World Championships.
Beyond his playing success, Ho was passionate about coaching, working diligently to support athletes from grassroots to elite levels. He served as the Coach and Team Manager for Fiji at major international events such as the Olympic and Commonwealth Games, demonstrating his commitment to the sport and to fostering new talent.
Recognition for Ho’s contributions extended beyond the sporting arena. He received the Sports Administrator of the Year award from the FASANOC multiple times and was named the Sports Volunteer of the Year in 2009. Additionally, he was awarded the Independence Medal in 2020 by the President of Fiji for his substantial contributions to the socio-economic progress of the nation.
Ho’s legacy and dedication to table tennis not only earned him accolades but also inspired many within the sporting community. This posthumous honor serves as a testament to his enduring impact on Fiji’s sports landscape and leaves a hopeful message about the importance of passion and commitment in pursuing excellence in sports.
