The Honorable Charan Jeath Singh, Minister for Multi-Ethnic Affairs and the Sugar Industry, is representing Fiji at the 33rd International Sugar Organization Council seminar in London. During his visit, he engaged in discussions with the Directors of the Czarnikow Group, an influential player in the global sugar trade known for value-added products like ethanol.
The focus of their meeting was on exploring opportunities to broaden Fiji’s market presence and enhance its product range. This initiative aims to drive better prices and improved profitability for local sugar farmers. The Czarnikow Group has maintained a longstanding partnership with Fiji, which dates back over a century, starting from the Colonial Sugar Refining Company’s era and continuing through the operations of the Fiji Sugar Corporation.
This collaboration signifies a promising step towards revitalizing Fiji’s sugar industry, potentially leading to substantial economic benefits for farmers and contributing positively to the nation’s agricultural landscape.
Moreover, expanding Fiji’s market reach can also foster innovation in product offerings, ensuring that the sugar industry remains competitive and sustainable in the global market.
