James Kusitino has made history by becoming Fiji’s first professional surfer at the young age of 16. His journey began at just 5 years old when he learned to balance on a surfboard in Nadroga, inspired by family and friends who surfed. Over the years, he honed his skills at Cloudbreak, a renowned surf break recognized as one of the most challenging in the world. His talent was nurtured by local legends such as Che Slatter, as well as mentors Godfrey Eaton and Ian Muller.

Kusitino’s unique surfing style caught the attention of the major surfing brand, Former, leading to the signing of his first significant sponsorship contract. His father expressed immense pride, stating that James represents not only personal achievement but hopes to inspire other young surfers in Fiji to pursue their dreams.
