Sugarcane farmers in Fiji are set to receive a payment of $17.03 per tonne for their cane on May 23, 2025. This payment marks the fourth distribution for the 2024 season, bringing the total compensation to $86.66 per tonne for the year. This is a continuation of the Fiji Sugar Corporation’s efforts to support local growers, who have thus far received payments including $43.06 per tonne as a delivery fee, $14.35 per tonne for the second cane payment, and $12.22 per tonne for the third.
As of April 30, 2025, the net proceeds shared among the sugarcane growers amount to an impressive $115,427,843, reflecting the corporation’s commitment to the industry amid ongoing challenges such as climate fluctuations and market variability.
