Team Fiji continued to excel at the Palau Mini Games, winning two gold medals yesterday. Sprinter Heleina Young showcased her remarkable talent by claiming her third gold medal, dominating the women’s 200m final with a time of 24.01 seconds. Previously, she had secured gold in the women’s 400m and contributed to the victory of the 4x400m relay team.

Para-athlete Naibili Vatunisolo also made headlines by earning her second gold medal in the women’s shot put para ambulant event, achieving a throw of 8.72m at 74.91% accuracy. This follows her earlier success in the women’s javelin ambulant event.

In addition, Waisake Tewa brought home a silver medal in the men’s 200m final, clocking in at 21.60 seconds, while Reki Roberts added another silver in the women’s triple jump with a leap of 11.00m.

These achievements are a testament to the hard work and dedication of the athletes, fostering a sense of pride within the Fijian community and raising hopes for further success as the competition progresses. The depth of talent and resilience displayed by Team Fiji is not only inspiring but also underscores the nation’s potential in athletics on the international stage. As the games continue until July 9, anticipation builds for more remarkable performances from these athletes.
