South Sea Cruises Group is set to introduce its new transfer service, South Sea Cats, to enhance resort travel and snorkeling experiences in Fiji. The launch of two purpose-built catamarans, designed in New Zealand and constructed in Fiji, is scheduled for early 2024. These vessels will offer faster connectivity to popular destinations such as Tokoriki, Matamanoa, Malolo Island, and Castaway Islands.
Each catamaran measures approximately 14.9 meters in length and can reach speeds of 22 knots, accommodating up to 40 passengers. The service will include morning and evening transfers and exciting snorkeling trips, featuring Fiji’s first inflatable slide on a commercial vessel, creating a unique adventure for guests.
Sales executive Sanjeshni Nand highlighted the importance of this service for local communities in the Yasawas and Mamanucas, aiming to make island access easier. The trips will also include onboard buffet options and opportunities to snorkel at various spots, allowing families and corporate groups alike to enjoy the beautiful surroundings.
Pricing starts at around $200 per person, with discounts available for local residents. The service offers flexibility for both short and longer excursions, tailored to cater to groups of different sizes. The group encourages advance bookings given the anticipated demand.
Group General Manager Loretta St Julian-Ooms emphasized the benefits of departing from Port Denarau, which is conveniently located near Nadi International Airport and other resorts, enhancing the appeal for corporate and leisure groups.
