Eight members of the national men’s sevens extended squad have been selected to represent the Mike Friday Select Sevens team at the upcoming McDonald’s Fiji Coral Coast Sevens tournament. The selection was made by head coach Osea Kolinisau.
The chosen Fiji players include Viliame Naikausa, Rubeni Kabu, Suliano Volivoli, Jope Tikomailepanoni, Iliavi Masori, Sakiusa Siqila, Rauto Vakadranu, and Alipate Biu. They will be joined by international players such as Jerry Tuwai, former Ireland captain Harry McNulty, USA’s Matai Leuta, and Rosko Specman in this diverse lineup.
According to tournament organizing committee chairman Jay Whyte, the Mike Friday Select Sevens team is a new addition to the tournament, highlighting its international appeal. Welsh player Luke Treharne and French athlete Alexandre Odinga will also be participating, ensuring that the event showcases world-class talent in Fiji.
These eight players will be competing for a chance to secure a spot on the men’s squad for the HSBC SVSN Perth Sevens tournament scheduled for January 24-26. The Coral Coast Sevens will take place from January 16-18 at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka.
