Fiji’s Senior Golf Tournament Sees Fierce Competition and Female Empowerment

The Fiji Senior Golfers tournament, sponsored by Asco Motors, was held over the weekend at the Natadola Golf Course in Nadi.

Fiji Golf Club Secretary Susan Yee reported that 70 players participated in the two-person Ambrose event, which saw involvement from golfers from the West, Pacific Harbour, Australia, and the Fiji Golf Club, resulting in a fun day of golf.

Yee expressed enthusiasm about the participation of 20 female golfers, highlighting notable participants such as Susan Joyce, Barbara O’Neil, and Heather Atu from Nadi, as well as Tema Buadromo from Australia and Fiji Golf Club members like Barbara Nasara, Mua Rawlinson, and Caroline Chang.

Prizes were awarded to the top six teams, in addition to the Nearest-to-the-Pin and Longest Drive contests for both men and women, made possible through the sponsorship of Asco Motors Limited. Furthermore, two lucky draw vouchers were given away, and the Natadola team provided a delightful lunch for attendees.

The tournament results were as follows: Indar Wajan and Joeli placed 6th with 67.5 points, followed by Asim Hussein and Thiphait Hussein in 5th with 67 points. Kamal Singh and Naveen Chand took 4th with 66.5 points, Jack Lee and Rookie finished 3rd with 66 points, and Linda Callaghan and Vidhya Lakhan secured 2nd place with 65.75 points. The champions, Carol Wright and Susan Joyce, claimed 1st place with a score of 64 points.
