The Fiji Rugby Union is in the midst of preparations for a highly anticipated Test match against Scotland, scheduled for July 12, 2025, at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva. Chairman John Sanday has confirmed that a robust squad is being assembled for this encounter, with head coach Mick Byrne working diligently to fine-tune the team.

During a recent launch for ticket sales, Sanday encouraged fans to secure their tickets early to avoid disappointment, emphasizing the importance of strong home support for the Flying Fijians. Byrne is currently evaluating a large pool of 80 players to finalize the best squad for this significant match, highlighting a blend of seasoned players and emerging talent.

This meeting will mark the 13th clash between Fiji and Scotland, with their rivalry dating back to 1982. Historically, Fiji has claimed two victories out of their twelve meetings, notably those on home soil in 1998 and 2017. Their most recent encounter, however, ended in a decisive defeat for Fiji, with Scotland winning 57-17 in the Autumn Nations Test Series.

The upcoming match not only represents a crucial opportunity for the Flying Fijians to showcase their skills and resilience on home turf but also serves as a platform to reconnect with their fans and reinforce national pride. Additionally, Fiji is set to kick off their season shortly before facing Scotland, with a match against the Australian Wallabies on July 5 and a subsequent game against Tonga in the Pacific Nations Cup opener on August 30.

With the excitement building around these fixtures, fans and players alike look forward to an exhilarating display of rugby that encapsulates Fiji’s rich sporting heritage and hopeful aspirations for success in international competitions.
