The Fiji Roads Authority is set to enhance the Suva-Nausori corridor by widening several roads to accommodate four lanes, a move aimed at alleviating the persistent traffic issues in the area.

The roads targeted for expansion include Ratudovi Road from Nadera to Laqere, Fletcher Road extending from Nanuku to Laucala Bay Road, and Princess Road from Khalsa Road to Samabula.

Transport and Infrastructure Minister Ro Filipe Tuisawau announced these plans in Parliament last week, emphasizing that the road improvements are part of a comprehensive medium- to long-term infrastructure development strategy.

Additionally, Minister Tuisawau discussed the long-term vision for the transport sector, which includes implementing decarbonization strategies. This will involve assessing current transport emissions in Fiji, pinpointing areas needing enhancement, and establishing clear, attainable targets for improvement.

These developments indicate a proactive approach toward not only improving transportation infrastructure but also addressing environmental concerns, paving the way for a more sustainable future for Fiji.

Overall, this initiative offers a hopeful outlook for both traffic management and environmental stewardship in Fiji. The commitment to enhancing infrastructure while focusing on sustainability reflects a community-oriented approach that aims to benefit residents in the long run.
