Two outstanding Fijian athletes, Waisale Inoke and Joana Vakasobuduru, have etched their names in the record books with remarkable performances that have set new national records in their events. Inoke, a former champion from MGM High School, achieved a significant milestone at the Region VI/KJCCC Indoor Track & Field Championships, where he established a new national indoor record in the heptathlon with a score of 4,636 points—an impressive improvement over his previous record set just a week prior.
On the women’s side, Vakasobuduru, a former sprinter from Sigatoka Methodist High School, shattered the longstanding women’s 200m indoor record at the Championships/Heart of America Championships, finishing in a remarkable 25.04 seconds, surpassing the previous record held by Sisilia Seavula.
