Suva Grammar School’s Sesenieli Rasoki is poised for an exciting debut on the national athletics stage this weekend, as she represents Fiji at the 2025 Pacific Mini Games. The 17-year-old athlete from Vunibau, Serua, captured the spotlight at the recent 2025 Coca-Cola Games, where she clinched gold in the Junior Girls’ 400m final with a personal best of 58.80 seconds.

Rasoki’s impressive performance at the Coca-Cola Games showcased her emerging talent and determination, but it followed a strong showing just a week prior at the 2025 Easter National Championships, where she clocked 59.75 seconds in the finals. This time secured her a spot in Team Fiji’s senior squad for the Mini Games, highlighting her consistency and potential as a top contender in athletics.

Under the guidance of coach Jone Delai, a renowned former Pacific sprint champion, Rasoki is refining her technique and demonstrating an unwavering commitment to her training. Her dedication underscores the supportive environment that young athletes in Fiji share, as coaches and mentors play a crucial role in their development.

The stories of young athletes like Rasoki resonate within Fiji’s growing athletics community, particularly when seen alongside peers such as Sera Nasilivata, who recently broke a 32-year-old record during the Coca-Cola Games, and Glandness Simpson, who is also preparing to represent Fiji at the Pacific Mini Games. This collective success reflects a broader trend of rising talent in the nation, inspiring younger generations to pursue their dreams and represent Fiji with pride.

As Team Fiji approaches the Pacific Mini Games scheduled for later this year, the spotlight on these young athletes provides hope for a bright future in sports, showcasing the hard work and dedication that continues to flourish within Fiji’s vibrant athletic community.
