Fiji’s Police Commissioner Resigns Amidst Controversy

Suspended Commissioner of Police Brigadier-General Sitiveni Qiliho has officially resigned. This confirmation comes from Prime Minister and chair of the Constitutional Offices Commission, Sitiveni Rabuka, who stated that Qiliho submitted his resignation last week. The Constitutional Offices Commission is scheduled to meet later this week. Qiliho was suspended in 2023 by President Ratu Wiliame Katonivere on the Prime Minister’s advice due to allegations of misconduct. He is currently serving a two-year prison sentence for abuse of office. Additionally, it has been reported that Qiliho sought legal advice from his attorneys regarding his resignation.
