People First has officially become Fiji’s latest political party following its registration approval by the Registrar of Political Parties, Ana Mataiciwa, on November 20, 2025. This development marks a significant addition to Fiji’s political landscape.
Mataiciwa disclosed that four objections had been lodged against the party’s application. These objections were specifically concerning the party’s name, its symbol, and specific content within its constitution. After a thorough assessment, the Registrar confirmed that all four objections were dismissed.
However, those who raised the objections have a 14-day window to appeal the decision to the Electoral Commission. With the registration of People First, the total number of political parties registered with the Fijian Elections Office now stands at eight.
This expansion of political representation in Fiji could encourage greater participation in the democratic process, offering voters more choices in forthcoming elections.
