Tourism is on the rise in Fiji’s Northern Division, as local businesses contribute to growth and investment efforts. Natua Travel and Tours has recently joined the Na Vualiku Tourism project, a significant initiative drawing attention from investors and local tourism operators. This project showcases a total of 15 rental properties and four vehicles for local transportation.

The initiative was launched by Tui Macuata Ratu Wiliame Katonivere, who aims to highlight Northern Fiji’s hospitality and attractions, featuring well-known sites such as the floating island in Nubu, Three Sisters Mountain in Koibau, and the third-largest barrier reef in the world, Bainivualiku. Ratu Wiliame expressed optimism about the potential this initiative holds for boosting investment and creating economic stability in the region, noting, “The Northern Division has special significance…now with this opportunity, I think it’s going to open doors of opportunities for investments and for business.”

Locals have been encouraged to seize this chance to develop the Northern Division as a noteworthy tourist destination before international visitors flood in. Mohammed Khan, managing director of Natua Travel and Tours, shared insights on the advantages of the program, stating, “It’s a prime opportunity where Vanua Levu people…we’ve got very beautiful places that can be taken as tours.”

The Na Vualiku initiative aligns with the broader goals of the Fiji Tourism Development Programme, which aims to improve local livelihoods by enhancing tourism infrastructure and services. Following the success of the initial phase, there are plans to expand this project to neighboring areas like Bua and Cakaudrove, indicating a commitment to long-term development in the Northern Division.

As tourism flourishes in the North, there is a hopeful outlook for economic growth and increased job opportunities for local communities, suggesting a positive change for the region’s future. This initiative not only represents a significant investment but also embodies a vision of sustainable development, reinforcing the importance of community involvement in Fiji’s tourism landscape.
