Prince Charles Park is set to host the George ‘Fiji’ Veikoso Homecoming Concert next month. The special administrator of Nadi Town Council, chairperson Saliceni Raiwalui, announced that the final preparations for the park are currently underway.
Mr. Raiwalui expressed that this concert is poised to introduce a new era for events in Nadi. He stated, “This show will bring a different taste, the sound of the Pacific carrying the spirit of Fiji.” He noted that the concert would be significant for Nadi, expressing gratitude for the event being held in the area. While the organizers will cover all expenses at Prince Charles Park, the council will manage the parking arrangements, planning to utilize Koroivolu Park for additional space.
Mr. Raiwalui emphasized that the council is eager to collaborate with musicians for future events, indicating a willingness to establish an annual concert.
This concert marks Mr. Veikoso’s return home after 40 years of promoting Pacific music globally. He has expressed that this homecoming represents more than just a performance. “It’s a celebration of our roots, our culture, and the music that connects us all. For four decades, I have had the privilege of carrying the spirit of Fiji and the Pacific to audiences across the globe,” he remarked, adding that it is time to return to his origins and share his life’s work, alongside renowned artists such as J Boog, Maoli, and Josh Tatofi.
Mr. Veikoso described the event as a celebration of music’s unifying power and a tribute to their shared heritage, stating, “I can’t wait to experience this unforgettable night with all of you.”
A representative from Tourism Fiji expressed excitement about the concert, highlighting it as an opportunity to celebrate Mr. Veikoso’s talent and promote Fiji’s vibrant musical landscape. They noted that such events can enhance the local economy, foster community spirit, and showcase Fiji’s cultural richness and hospitality.
Ticket prices for the concert range from $79 to $999VIP. Local artist and aviator Big Wilz shared his enthusiasm, stating he is willing to pay to see the performances and appreciated the dedication of the artists bringing their music to Fiji without major sponsorship. He praised Mr. Veikoso for being a representative of Fijian music on the global stage and urged fans to attend the concert.
The concert is set to take place on September 14 and 15.
