Prince Charles Park is set to host the George ‘Fiji’ Veikoso Homecoming Concert next month. Saliceni Raiwalui, the special administrator of Nadi Town Council, confirmed that the final preparations for the park are in progress.
Mr. Raiwalui emphasized that the concert is expected to establish a new trend for events in Nadi. “This show will introduce a unique experience, bringing the sound of the Pacific and the spirit of Fiji,” he stated.
He added that the event represents a significant opportunity for Nadi. “We are honored to have it hosted here. The organizers will cover all costs at Prince Charles Park, while we will manage the parking arrangements, utilizing Koroivolu Park for additional space.”
The council is open to collaborating with musicians for future events. “We are eager to partner with them if there are plans for this to become an annual occasion,” Mr. Raiwalui noted.
The concert marks George Veikoso’s return home after four decades of sharing Pacific music globally. He expressed that this homecoming is more than just a concert. “It’s a celebration of our roots, culture, and the music that unites us. For forty years, I have had the honor of sharing the essence of Fiji and the Pacific with audiences worldwide,” Mr. Veikoso remarked.
He highlighted that now is the time to complete this journey, returning to where it all started. “I am privileged to return home and present the music that has been my life’s passion, alongside some incredible artists I consider family: J Boog, Maoli, and Josh Tatofi,” he said.
Mr. Veikoso emphasized that the event will celebrate his return and the unifying power of music. “This event is a tribute to our collective heritage, and I look forward to sharing this unforgettable night with all of you,” he added.
A representative from Tourism Fiji expressed excitement about the concert, stating, “We’re delighted about George Fiji Veikoso’s Homecoming Concert. This event celebrates his extraordinary talent and highlights Fiji’s vibrant musical scene.”
The spokesperson noted that the concert is a fantastic opportunity to strengthen the local economy, foster community spirit, and showcase Fiji’s unique cultural offerings to international visitors. “Events like this help to highlight our rich culture and warm hospitality,” they said.
Ticket prices range from $79 to $999 for VIP access. Local artist and aviator Big Wilz shared his enthusiasm, saying, “I’d happily pay to see Pojie, Josh, and Maoli perform. I appreciate that these artists are coming to our shores through their hard work rather than big corporate sponsorship.”
He continued, “I am supporting Pojie because I believe he represents us well in the music world. It’s going to be an epic event. Join us in Nadi if you can; don’t worry if you can’t make it. See you there.”
The concert is scheduled for September 14-15.
