Life Corporation of India (LICI) Fiji is making significant strides in modernizing its operations by digitizing physical policy files. The insurance service provider has successfully scanned and stored between 90,000 and 100,000 documents, reflecting the policies of clients who have been with the company since its inception in 1956. The ambitious digitization project has already seen the scanning of one million pages in less than eight months.

According to LICI Fiji’s Human Resources Manager, Vivek Prakash, the transition from physical to digital has completely transformed the company’s service delivery. “The physical papers are gone, and all services are now based on digital images of the policy dockets,” he stated. This shift has allowed for a remarkable reduction in turnaround time for customer requests, enhancing overall efficiency and meeting the expectations of policy holders.

Prakash emphasized the importance of these historical documents, which continue to be relevant until the final payout of a policy. The digitization process is still ongoing, with efforts to store and manage remaining documents efficiently. Alongside this initiative, LICI Fiji has implemented an e-policy system over the past two to three years, sending policy holders digital copies of their policy bonds.

The feedback from clients has been overwhelmingly positive. Policy holders now enjoy timely access to their documents via email, receiving comprehensive information and key terms and conditions upon policy completion. This successful transition showcases LICI Fiji’s commitment to innovation and customer service, ensuring that the needs of its clients are met effectively and promptly.

By embracing digital advancements, LICI Fiji is not only preserving its historical archives but also enhancing the overall customer experience, reflecting a hopeful step toward a more efficient insurance service in the region.
