The Fiji women’s football team, known as the Kula, has been diligently focusing on fitness and speed in preparation for their FIFA Women’s World Cup Oceania Qualifiers, which are set to commence tomorrow at the 4R Stadium, Govind Park in Ba. Under the guidance of head coach Nicola Demaine, who joined the squad in mid-January, the players have shown remarkable progress in their training.

Demaine expressed her admiration for the team’s dedication and improvement since her arrival, emphasizing the need for high intensity and effective recovery in a tournament environment where match turnaround times are tight. “We’ve seen noticeable progress, particularly in our intensity and recovery. That’s going to be important in a tournament setting,” she noted.

The Kula will kick off their qualifying campaign against New Caledonia at 4 PM tomorrow. Following this matchup, they will take on Papua New Guinea on March 2, and conclude their group matches against Vanuatu at 4 PM on March 5. The team’s commitment to preparing for these crucial games indicates a promising outlook for their performance in the tournament.
