The Hibiscus Festival is set to offer a unique spiritual element this Sunday, seamlessly blending outreach and gospel music into the traditionally vibrant carnival atmosphere. Organizers have curated the program to provide a comforting space for reflection amidst the colorful festivities of Fiji’s largest festival. “The festival is about community, and Sunday’s outreach offers a spiritual gathering for worship and fellowship,” they said.
The day’s schedule begins with the Hibiscus Village opening at 10 am, followed by a morning church service at the Suva Foreshore. The afternoon will see the Fiji Council of Churches hosting a major outreach service on the main stage, leading into a lineup of gospel music, including performances by the Makoi Gospel Choir and a special Gospel Night.
Other activities complementing the spiritual focus include a car show on Constitution Avenue, a queen’s rehearsal at the Suva Civic Centre, and performances from the dance group Action Chorus and the choir Dolche Voices.
The spiritual addition enriches the Hibiscus Festival, offering a balanced mix of entertainment and pageantry, and ensuring there is “something meaningful for everyone,” according to the event coordinators.
The festival retains its rich tradition of unity and community since its revival, acting as a catalyst for social connection and personal growth. By integrating spiritual programs into the festivities, it continues to inspire and nurture hope, resonating with the festival’s legacy of unity.
