Work has commenced on the installation of a new CT scan machine at the Colonial War Memorial Hospital (CWM), which has been without a functional CT machine since last year. This development marks a significant advancement in Fiji’s healthcare services, made possible through a COVID-19 grant from the Government of Japan.

Assistant Minister for Health Penioni Ravunawa confirmed that the decommissioning of the old CT machine has been completed, and preparations for the new installation began recently. The Fiji Pharmaceutical and Biomedical Services team successfully delivered the new machine to CWM Hospital last Sunday. The Ministry of Health expressed gratitude to both the Japanese government for their support and the public for their patience during this transition.

The introduction of this new CT scanner reflects ongoing initiatives to modernize healthcare infrastructure in Fiji. Similar efforts have been seen recently with the restoration of vital equipment in other hospitals, such as the Digital Portable X-Ray Machine at Savusavu Hospital. These improvements are part of a broader commitment to enhance healthcare accessibility and service delivery throughout the nation.

With the addition of advanced medical equipment, there is a promising outlook for better health outcomes in Fiji. The collaborative efforts between the Fijian government and international partners are paving the way for improved healthcare services, ultimately benefiting the population. This progress not only enhances medical facilities but also reinforces a commitment to the overall health and well-being of communities across Fiji.
