The November Test matches serve as a crucial opportunity for the Fiji Water Flying Fijians to prepare for the 2027 Rugby World Cup in Australia. This was emphasized by head coach Mick Byrne during his remarks before the team’s departure from the country.

Byrne noted that the current roster includes several seasoned players who are nearing the conclusion of their careers. “Some of them have participated in three World Cups, and their legacy should be honored,” he stated.

He highlighted that this period is essential for introducing new, talented players to ensure a smooth transition as they aim for success in the upcoming World Cup. “We concluded the Pacific Nations Cup (PNC) positively, and it’s important to end the year on a high note as well,” Byrne added.

The Flying Fijians will engage in an extensive international schedule, featuring four Test matches, three of which are against Six Nations teams: Scotland, Wales, and Ireland. Byrne noted the positive performances from players based in Europe last weekend, as well as the active participation of locally-based players from the Fijian Drua who have been in intensive off-season training.

The team will kick off their tour with a match against Scotland at Murrayfield on November 3. Following that, they will head to Cardiff on November 10 to take on Wales, face Spain on November 17, and conclude with a final Test against Ireland in Dublin on November 24.

In related news, Scotland Rugby has announced that tickets for the Scotland-Fiji Test match have sold out.
