Fiji Water Flying Fijians prop Peni Ravai is currently the only injury concern as the team prepares for their upcoming test match against Scotland this Saturday at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva. Coach Mick Byrne shared that Ravai is being closely monitored after suffering an arm injury during Fiji’s recent 22-18 loss to the Wallabies in Newcastle. He noted, “You’ve probably seen him walking around with his arm in a sling. He’s in a bit of trouble, so we might need to get a scan. At this stage, he’s probably a question mark. But everyone else is good, as you saw everyone’s out here training today.”

The rest of the squad has emerged unscathed from the match against Australia, with all players participating in training sessions. Byrne expressed optimism about the team’s energy, saying that despite the disappointment of the previous defeat, the players are eager to get back on the field. “They’re excited. They’re very disappointed, they’re gutted, but they’re not traumatized or mentally pressured by the game,” he stated.

As Fiji gears up for the match, Byrne foresees a tough challenge from the Scottish team, who recently edged the Maori All Blacks with a close 29-26 victory. He acknowledged Scotland’s aggressive style, particularly around the breakdown, and their known physicality in play. The upcoming match marks the 13th meeting between these two teams, with Fiji having secured only two wins in their history against Scotland.

Setting the stage for a riveting encounter, this match represents a chance for Fiji to not just redeem themselves after their last performance but also to showcase their rugby prowess on home soil, a feat in which they historically excel. Kick-off is scheduled for 3 PM at the HFC Bank Stadium, where fans are expected to fill the stands and show overwhelming support for the Flying Fijians’ efforts.

In addition, looking back at past meetings, Fiji has had notable successes against Scotland in 1998 and 2017. This historical context adds excitement to the match, making it an essential moment for both the players and fans to celebrate their rich rugby culture and unity. With a strong home support, the Flying Fijians are hopeful to turn the tide in their favor and deliver a thrilling performance this weekend.
