Fiji’s Fijiana XV Poised for Rugby World Cup Glory in Competitive Pool B

The Women’s Rugby World Cup in England is gearing up for an exhilarating competition in 2025, featuring prominent teams looking to etch their names in history.

The Vodafone Fijiana XV has been drawn in Pool B, where they will face off against Canada, Scotland, and Wales. The complete schedule of matches will be released shortly. The tournament is scheduled to run from September 7 to October 28, 2025, promising a series of thrilling encounters.

Alana Thomas, the Manager of the FRU Women’s High Performance Unit, shared her excitement regarding the tournament. “Being placed in such a competitive pool highlights the evolution of women’s rugby in Fiji. We are ready to embrace the challenge and proudly represent our nation,” Thomas stated.

She added, “The completion of the pool draw is an exciting milestone, and we are looking forward to our opponents in England next August. This World Cup is expected to significantly impact women’s rugby.”

The Fijiana XV recently returned from a northern tour, where they played Scotland in their opening match. Although the results were not as desired, the experience provided valuable exposure to the Six Nations rugby style. The tour also allowed the team to acclimatize to different weather conditions, which can affect performance.

After participating in the WXV3 competition in Dubai, the Vodafone Fijiana XV has completed its exit review and is set to take a break before resuming training in November.

Thomas expressed gratitude towards the players and staff for their efforts throughout the season, which marked a milestone for the Fijiana XV with 11 test matches leading to their qualification for the World Cup, winning the Oceania Championship, and achieving their first victory against Japan.

As the countdown to the 2025 Rugby World Cup begins, excitement is mounting among players and supporters. The Vodafone Fijiana XV is poised to showcase the spirit of Fiji on the world stage in England and beyond.
