A recent collaborative operation involving the Fiji Revenue and Customs Service (FRCS), the Fiji Police Force, and the Maritime Safety Authority of Fiji (MSAF) has led to the successful identification and interruption of various illegal activities. This joint effort emphasizes the significance of resource sharing and information exchange in meeting enforcement goals.

The operation took place at the Mua-i-Walu port and surrounding carrier stands, revealing concerning evidence of high-value goods being concealed within used water bottles. FRCS noted that this sophisticated smuggling strategy highlights the evolving tactics used by smugglers and some shop owners to bypass customs regulations.

In addition to the goods hidden in water bottles, undeclared cigarettes were also found on a fishing vessel, indicating further potential violations of trade laws by shop owners and maritime operators.
