The Minister for Education, Aseri Radrodro, has announced several initiatives aimed at enhancing support and appreciation for teachers throughout Fiji. Key among these initiatives is the recent salary increase for 296 teachers who upgraded their qualifications last year, totaling approximately $2.3 million. This increase was part of the Christmas pay period and underscores the Coalition Government’s commitment to recognizing the dedication of educators.
In a bid to further honor long-serving teachers, the Ministry plans to implement salary adjustments for those with over 20 years of service. These adjustments will be phased in over the coming months, signaling the government’s intent to reward the experience and commitment of veteran educators.
Additionally, Radrodro has confirmed that 103 Assistant Principals will receive step-up increments this month. This move aims to create more career advancement opportunities for school leaders, ultimately empowering teachers in their leadership capacities.
These initiatives showcase a significant investment in the education sector, reflecting the government’s ongoing dedication to those who play a crucial role in fostering the learning and development of Fiji’s youth. The positive impact of such measures not only uplifts the teaching profession but also contributes to the overall progress and future of the nation.
