Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka presided over the groundbreaking ceremony for the Lautoka Seventh Day Adventist High School today, signifying a pivotal advancement in Fiji’s education sector. The new high school, set to welcome students in 2026, aims to enhance educational opportunities for children in the region.
During his speech, Prime Minister Rabuka highlighted the importance of this milestone, expressing appreciation to the Seventh Day Adventist Church for its ongoing support in Fiji’s education landscape. “Today, we’re here to celebrate progress. On behalf of the Government, I convey my gratitude to the SDA Church for its contribution towards the education sector in Fiji,” he stated.
Rabuka also recognized the significant role that religious institutions play in the country, noting that they are responsible for building and managing approximately 95% of schools in Fiji. He reiterated the Government’s commitment to fostering strong collaborations with religious organizations and other stakeholders to further enhance the education system.
“The school is expected to open in 2026 and I urge all parties concerned to unite in this project. Let us collectively come together to make this project a reality,” he urged, emphasizing the need for collaboration among all involved.
The SDA Church already contributes to the education system in Fiji by operating three high schools and twelve primary schools, reinforcing its dedication to promoting education in the region.
This initiative not only promises to expand educational facilities but also embodies a collective effort towards improving the quality of education available to the youth in Fiji. With increasing government support and community involvement, the future of education in the country looks promising.
