Deputy Prime Minister Manoa Kamikamica has reinforced the Coalition Government’s dedication to reshaping Fiji’s economy during a recent panel discussion at the Fiji Institute of Chartered Accountants in Nadi. He underscored the importance of stability and predictability in governance and emphasized that the government possesses the necessary fundamentals for advancing Fiji’s economic landscape.

Kamikamica assured attendees that, despite “social media noise,” Fiji has the essential resources and capabilities to drive economic transformation. “A lot more is happening and being done to navigate the architect of the Fijian economy,” he stated.

This call for a focus on stability aligns with the government’s ongoing efforts to build public trust, a theme highlighted in previous discussions following the National Security and Defence Review (NSDR). The NSDR identified trust as critical for national security and voiced concerns about perceptions of leadership integrity. Kamikamica acknowledged this context, stressing that rebuilding trust through transparent governance and consistent messaging is vital for achieving the economic stability Fiji needs.

Moreover, the government is advancing its National Development Plan, which aims for substantive economic growth over the next 25 to 30 years. The plan envisions a transition to a wealth-driven society, emphasizing the need for a sustainable and inclusive economy that supports various community sectors.

Kamikamica’s optimistic outlook for Fiji’s economy, including projected growth rates and the pivotal role of tourism, reflects a commitment to fostering an environment conducive to business and innovation. As the government continues to pursue a collective vision for economic betterment, there is reason for hopeful anticipation regarding the nation’s future prosperity.

This approach embodies a recognition that, while challenges remain, ongoing strategic investments and community engagement will pave the way for a resilient and progressive Fiji.
