A joint operation conducted by the Fiji Revenue and Customs Service and the Fiji Police Force resulted in the arrest of a 33-year-old man on January 31, on suspicion of drug trafficking. The apprehension occurred shortly after the individual arrived on an international flight and was subjected to a search utilizing K9 units.
During the search, authorities uncovered white crystal substances that are believed to be methamphetamine. These substances have since been forwarded for analytical testing to confirm their nature.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations, Livai Driu, praised the collaborative efforts of the border enforcement agencies, highlighting their critical role in the fight against drug trafficking and the ongoing commitment to safeguarding Fiji from the risks associated with illicit drug activities.
This operation underscores the importance of inter-agency cooperation in maintaining national security and public safety, and it serves as a reminder that law enforcement remains vigilant in addressing drug-related crimes.
In light of this incident, it is hopeful that such collaborative efforts will continue to deter drug trafficking and ensure a safer environment for the citizens of Fiji.
